Quanta in Science and Quantum Technologies
Quantum technologies are enabling completely new applications in secure data communication (e. g. quantum kryptography) , sensor technology, metrology and simulation, and at the same time open up new questions for research. We will have a look inside the quantum labs and show what quantum researchers are currently working on and what stimulates their interests.
Activities
QuanTour – A Quantum Emitter’s Journey through Europe
A special quantum light source, emitting photons one by one, was developed at the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany. This quantum light source will travel accross Europe for one year, visiting 12+ laboratories in 12 different countries. During the QuanTour project, the organizers and participating research teams provide insights into the semiconductor physics of quantum optics, information, and metrology photonic quantum technologies. Additionally, the everyday work of quantum physicists in different countries is highlighted. Like the Olympic torch relay, QuanTour will prepare us for the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025.
