Quanta in Science and Quantum Technologies

Quantum Materials research is an umbrella term that describes the investigation of strongly correlated electron systems, unconventional magnets and superconductors, and topological phases of matter. In recent years, a new generation of materials has emerged at the intersection of these subfields, which offers a unique opportunity to study the interplay of electronic correlations and topology. These materials often display a rich and sometimes mysterious phenomenology, with examples including

The Faculty of Physics, Göttingen, and its Institute for Theoretical Physics will host an international Phd School on Nonergodic Quantum Dynamics, with about 65 participants from 12 countries. The school will address fundamental questions of the non-equilibrium statistical physics of quantum many-body systems: How do the microscopic equations of motion of quantum mechanics lead to thermalization in closed quantum systems? Are there exceptions, that is, realistic systems that defy thermalization, at least on long time scales?

The international conference Quantum Photonics Spotlight 2024 [QPS2024] organised by the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS), will bring together the world's leading experts in quantum photonics in Paderborn to discuss photonic quantum technologies and the associated theories.
